The town of Turnov is a beautiful town on the edge of the Bohemian Paradise Protected Landscape Area. The local people have a strong sense of community and are not afraid of change. For them, Turnov is a town with a vision of being a "safe haven" for everyone.
Beautiful nature and the cohesion of the human community form the backbone of the brand’s graphic concept. Four circles are grouped into an imaginary four-leaf clover—a symbol of nature (Bohemian Paradise) and also of happiness. Given its recent recognition as the best place to live, Turnov is a happy choice. Each circle symbolizes an important component: people, nature, the city, and culture. Their interconnection gave rise to a symbol featuring a decorative ornament resembling a star at its center. It softens the brand’s austerity and adds further layers of meaning to the graphic design.
The symbol is complemented by a logotype and sans-serif typography, whose shapes—inspired by modernism and the Industrial Revolution—refer to Turnov’s industrial heritage of sophisticated gemstone processing and the future of crystal production. The geometric nature of the typeface also adds an element of playfulness to the text.
The design’s motto is “Turnov is my haven.” The logo’s striking red-and-white color scheme, in addition to adhering to the brief, serves as a beacon or lifeline. The supplementary colors—gold, green, and dark blue—will enable further development of the city’s visual style. This style is easily applied using simple rules yet offers sufficient flexibility in its use.
The combination of the symbol, the characteristic font and the unique colour scheme creates a variable palette of memorable elements that we can easily use in both online and offline environments. The lines also subtly blend into the photos, giving them a playful character. The visual identity thus accurately reflects the main characteristics of the Turnov city and citizens.
